On this Day in Music – 1st March

The lead singer of the rock band The Who, Roger Daltrey, Was born on this day 1944 in Hammersmith Hospital, East Acton, London.  Daltrey’s hits with the band include My Generation, Pinball Wizard, Won’t Get Fooled Again, and Baba O’Riley.

The Animals were due to perform at the Coliseum Theatre in Ottawa, Canada, on this day 1967 but failed to take to the stage. The angry fans grew impatient and began throwing chairs, destroying the stage and even ripping up floorboards. The band failed to play due to disputes over money and the length of the performance.
