The Who play their first ‘big’ gig following the passing of drummer Keith Moon on this day 1979. They headline Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans, with support from AC/DC, The Stranglers and Nils Lofgren.
Oasis played their first ever gig on this day 1991. The band, without Noel Gallagher, played at the Boardwalk Club, Manchester. Noel watched the performance, but was a roadie for Inspiral Carpets at the time, and started considering whether he should join his brother Liam in the band.
