The English singer and musician Peter Gabriel was born on this day 1950 in Chobham, Surrey. Gabriel was the original lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis leaving the band in 1975 for a successful solo career. Gabriel has released numerous hit albums and singles such as Sledgehammer, Solsbury Hill and the anti-apartheid single Biko.
