1910’s

The American singer and actress, Dinah Shore, was born (Fannye Rose Shore) on this day 1916 in Winchester, Tennessee. Shore is best known for her television work and variety shows, and songs such as Buttons and Bows, Dear Hearts & Gentle People, and I’ll Walk Alone.

2010’s

The English singer, and former member of The Monkees, Davy Jones, died on this day 2012 at Martin Memorial South Hospital in Stuart, Florida.  Jones had suffered a fatal heart attack aged 66.  Aside from the success with The Monkees, Jones also appeared on stage in London and Broadway in productions of Oliver!

The Steely Dan album Two Against Nature is 20 years old today…or only 5 if you count only leap years! The LP was their first in two decades, yet Becker and Fagen continued where they left off. Jazz rock fusion as only Steely Dan know.
