Previous Albums Of The Day
![]() The 1979 Gregory Isaacs album Soon Forward is perhaps his finest moment. Isaacs is joined on the LP by reggae legends Dennis Brown and Sly and Robbie. So many great tunes…Lonely Girl…Soon Forward…Black Liberation Struggle. Still sounds great! |
![]() The 2nd LP from former Screaming Trees vocalist Mark Lanegan, Whiskey For The Holy Ghost, is a turbulent affair. Apparently he had to be physically prevented from throwing the master tapes into a river at one point. Glad he didn’t. Quality song writing. |
![]() Seun Kuti is the modern sound of Afrobeat and the legendary Fela Kuti’s youngest son. Kuti’s new album Black Times features his father’s band Egypt 80, and also Carlos Santana. Black times highlights his social and political beliefs, powerful stuff! |
![]() Brooklyn-based artist James Hinton, under the moniker of The Range, has taken sampling to another level. Hinton trawls YouTube for rarely seen clips of aspiring singers or rappers, before blending the samples with break beats. The result is outstanding. Potential, released in March last year, is Hinton’s 2nd album using this technique! |
