The new Pokey LaFarge album Rock Bottom Rhapsody is steeped in retro sounds of yesteryear. Incredible vocals as always, the LP released on Jack White’s Third Man Records, received mix reviews, so make your own mind up. I loved it.

The 3rd Ben Folds Five album The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner is 20 years old today! Apparently, not named after the climber, rather the name friends used on fake IDs in their youth. Less catchy hooks, more let’s do something different. Intriguing album.

The Dave Matthews Band album Before These Crowded Streets is 20 years old tomorrow! The LP was produced by Steve Lillywhite, and includes guest spots by Alanis Morissette. An album that brought their great live performances into the studio. Amazing rhythms!

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco. The band’s 4th LP was rejected by Reprise records, but maybe their best work? Love War on War.
