The 2nd Sturgill Simpson album Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, released in 2014, was recorded in just four days. As Allmusic said “wildly adventurous; it extends the musical promise outlaw music made to listeners over 40 years ago.” Superb. |

The Throwing Muses album Hunkpapa is 30 years old today! The 3rd LP was mostly written by Kristin Hersh, with a couple of tracks by half-sister Tanya Donnelly. Lushly produced, but clearly an album in transition from a band searching their identity. A grower? |
