The Singer, dancer and actress Janet Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on this day 1966.  Born Janet Damita Jo Jackson to Katherine and Joseph Jackson, she was the youngest of ten children.  Despite growing up in the shadow of her brother Michael and the rest of the Jackson 5, Janet managed to forge her own successful career, selling millions of records across the globe with her memorable dance routines and catchy singles.
