On this Day in Music – 13th May

1950’s

The American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stevie Wonder was born in Saginaw, Michigan on this day 1950.  Stevland Hardaway Judkins was the third of six children of Calvin Judkins and Lula Mae Hardaway.  Wonder was six weeks premature which contributed to his loss of sight, suffering a condition whereby the retinas become detached.  Despite blindness Wonder has sold millions of albums, writing classic tracks such as Superstition, Sir Duke and You Are the Sunshine of My Life.
