Previous Albums Of The Day
![]() I had thought the end was nigh for AC/DC then all of a sudden…POWER UP. The best material in years from the ageing rockers. No surprises, no ballads, just pedal-to-the-metal rock and roll all the way. Brightened up my day! |
![]() The first Ray Bryant solo LP Alone With The Blues, released in 1959, featured the American jazz pianist Bryant as the title suggests alone at a piano playing the blues…and it is stunning. At the time considered a young modern traditionalist, but boy he knew his roots! |
![]() The debut Flying Burrito Brothers album The Gilded Palace of Sin, released in 1969, was not a commercial success, as with many influential albums. Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman unquestionably fused country and rock spectacularly with stunning two-part harmonies. An iconic LP. |
![]() The 1984 double-LP Double Nickels on the Dime by Minutemen is a monster listen of punchy guitars, political lyrics and epicness! |
![]() In 1975 country singer Willie Nelson already loved the track Red Headed Stranger, and decided to turn the song into an album of dark tales. The basic premise is of a man who murders his wife and her lover, before going on the run. Red Headed Stranger catapulted Nelson to country stardom. willienelson.com |
