1973 – An estimated 600,000 fans attended the Summer Jam festival at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Raceway outside Watkins Glen, New York. The Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead and The Band performed at the event, which at the time was a world record for an audience at a concert.
1950’s
1959 – Living Doll by Cliff Richard and The Shadows began a 6-week reign at the top of the UK Singles Chart. The song, written by Lionel Bart, also became a number one in 1986 as a charity single in aid of Comic Relief.
