On this Day in Music – 8th February

The debut album by American rock band Television, Marque Moon, was released in 1977.  The LP is one of the most acclaimed music releases in history.

The singer of the Number One hit single Runaway Del Shannon died on this day in 1990 aged 55.  Shannon, born Charles Westover, took his own life at his home in Santa Clarita, California.

I was introduced to the English hard rock band Stray on an Ameoba Records episode of What’s in my Bag? Their 1970 debut eponymous LP is packed full of hook-laden melodic hard rock. I loved every minute. At one point they were managed by Charlie Kray, you might know his brothers!
