The 1968 debut album by country singer/songwriter Townes Van Zandt, For The Sake of the Song, underlined the Texan as an emerging talent. Allmusic said he “wrote songs with an uncommon grace and poetic clarity.” Talkin’ Karate Blues is certainly a novelty! |

The 1978 debut XTC album White Music is 40 years old today. The LP contains the single Statue of Liberty, which was banned by the BBC due to the ‘obscene’ lyrics. The influence of Talking Heads is evident on White Music. Great stuff! |
